September 04, 2023

If you're a fan of Italian cuisine, there's nothing quite like the taste of homemade pasta and sauces. Creating these culinary delights from scratch allows you to customize the flavors and experience the satisfaction of making something truly special. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of making homemade pasta and sauces, along with the essential equipment you'll need.
Homemade Pasta:
Ingredients:
1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
2. 2 large eggs
3. Pinch of salt
4. Water (as needed)
Equipment:
1. Mixing bowl
2. Whisk
3. Rolling pin
4. Pasta cutter
5. Drying rack or clean surface
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and crack the eggs into it.
2. Using a fork or whisk, gradually incorporate the flour into the eggs until a dough forms. Add water, a little at a time, if needed, to bring the dough together.
3. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Divide the dough into smaller portions and cover them with a clean kitchen towel. Let them rest for about 30 minutes.
5. Take one portion of dough and flatten it with your hands. Pass it through a pasta roller or roll it out with a rolling pin, gradually thinning it until you reach the desired thickness.
6. Cut the rolled-out dough into your preferred pasta shape using a knife or pasta cutter.
7. Place the cut pasta on a drying rack or a clean surface and let it dry for about 15-30 minutes before cooking.
Creamy Alfredo Sauce:
Ingredients:
1. ½ cup unsalted butter
2. 1 cup heavy cream
3. 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4. Salt and pepper to taste
5. Fresh parsley (optional)
Equipment:
1. Saucepan
2. Whisk
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the heavy cream and whisk until well combined.
2. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until it melts and the sauce thickens.
3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. If desired, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
