Autumn Classic: Pumpkin Spice Latte

November 08, 2023

The pumpkin spice latte, or PSL, is a coffee drink that is typically made with espresso, steamed milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice seasoning, and sugar. It is a popular fall drink, and its origins can be traced back to the early 2000s.

The first PSL was created by Torrie Hetzler, a barista at Starbucks, in 2002. Hetzler was inspired by the pumpkin spice pancakes that her grandmother used to make, and she wanted to create a coffee drink that had a similar flavor. She experimented with different ingredients and flavors, and eventually came up with the PSL recipe.

The PSL was an immediate hit, and it quickly became one of Starbucks' most popular drinks. It is now sold at coffee shops all over the world, and it is a symbol of the fall season!

Here is the recipe for an autumn classic!

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot espresso
  • 1 cup steamed milk
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mug.
  2. Stir until well combined.
  3. Top with whipped cream and pumpkin spice seasoning, if you like!
